Day trips from Atlanta
Little White House and The Pine Mountain Animal Safari ($60 pp) First up on this tour day will be a stop at the only house that Franklin Delano Roosevelt ever owned, the Little White House, in Warm Springs, GA. The house remains exactly as it was on April 12, 1945, the day he died there. You'll drive past the warm springs, and learn about the history of polio and its cure. Lunch is included at the nearby Bulloch House. Next stop is the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain. Visitors can see, touch, and feel hundreds of exotic animals on a true wildlife safari. Drive through leisurely in safari buses and view many different kinds of animals in their natural habitat, some of whom may even eat right out of your hand. Then for an even closer look at some of the animals, you can stroll through Old McDonald's Petting Farm. Tour leaves Atlanta at 8 am back in Atlanta by 5:30 pm.
Falcon Rest Tour ($75pp) Journey up to the middle of Tennessee to tour the beautiful Victorian mansion that PBS has nicknamed, "Tennessee's Biltmore" that was built in the late 1800's by Clay Faulkner. You will enjoy Falcon Rest's most popular lunch and show, which is an interactive murder mystery play. You will also tour the mansion, and don't forget to see the unique gift shop, where you will find one of a kind antiques and trinkets. Dinner stop on the way home at the Cracker Barrel. Tour leaves Atlanta at 8 am return by 8:45 pm.
Great Smoky Mountain Railway Tour ($67pp) Head on up to the Great Smoky Mountain Railway in Bryson City, NC. The charming train ride will take you exploring through the scenic landscape of western North Carolina, through river gorges, fertile valleys, and of course, the majestic Great Smoky Mountains. Lunch will be provided during the ride. You may disembark at the other end for a look around before making the return trip to Bryson City. We'll stop at the Dillard House for a lovely dinner before riding the rest of the way home. Leave Atlanta 7:30 am, returning by 9:30pm.
